youtube removed dislike button for shorts too now, return-youtube-dislikes does not detect and re-enable dislike button

How to reproduce/recreate?

1. go to any short, e.g.https://www.youtube.com/shorts/IyPaepVE7uw
2. find like button
3. do not find dislike button as they disabled that for shorts now

Yes please fix this! If we don't view it in short form but in a regular youtube video form the dislike button is there so do keep this in mind when re-adding it to the shorts feed too!

YT removed the dislike on shorts so you couldn't dislike ones with AI voice overs or are AI generated.

This is a change, as everyone probably knows by now. I don't know if there's anything else, but for anyone who just wants an immediate fix, you can use my extension:

You can also view the source (sometimes it's more up-to-date than on the Chrome Web Store) from https://files.vred.site/yt/, which also means it won't auto-update. I recommend Chrome Web Store since metadata is more polished, but more importantly, the auto-updates mean that while you theoretically trust the extension more, you also get hotfixes (including that I'm currently working on replacing the heart with the OG like).

If you want to see the source directly you have to use another Chrome extension to view it or download the CRX file.

The extension is still pending on the Mozilla/Firefox store, so you have to either get the .zip (I recommend doing that a day or two from now, when I'd have implemented the heart icon fix) or wait for the extension to be reviewed and published.

thx for the effort, but since its closed source and an anonymous release it should not be trusted that much right now. i also will wait for a fix by @Anarios.

Any Updates on this? I was honestly expecting an update by now, given that alternative plugins like the one mentioned above or the equivalent for Firefox already popped up.

Alternatively, you can watch a short in the full video player layout (swap the shorts part of the url with watch) which natively shows the dislike button. There are also extensions and userscript solutions to automate this as well.

Return YouTube Dislike should add their own Dislike button to counter the new shorts Like button, and I suggest the custom-made icon for it be a broken heart.

The main player dislike button is also disappearing so I suggest RYTD add a button to replace it there, too.
